Okay, so have you heard about this new-fangled contraption that kids these days have on their fancy cell phones? It's this really high-pitched ring tone that apparently anyone over the age of 20 can't hear. (I guess kids like it because they can have their phones on in class and their old-fogie teachers can't hear it). Anyways, I've thought this was all just bogus...until last night. At mutual all my girls were talking about it, and I didn't believe them, so we did an experiment. We made one girl stand outside the door with her phone so no one could see her, and then made all the other girls close their eyes and put their heads down, then when they heard it, they raised their hands. Each time their hands all shot up at the same time. What did I hear? NOTHING! Not until I put the phone right in my ear. I think my girls could tell it made me feel old, so they tried to comfort me by saying, "It's okay, my mom can't hear it either." My first thought was, "ya, but your mom is old! Old enough to have an 18 year old kid! I'm only 28!" But then I realized it doesn't matter - the line is drawn at 25. Once you pass the ripe old age of 25, it's all over from there. You may as well be 60 in the eyes of anyone who hasn't crossed the line yet. I may as well start buying orthopedic hose and oxygen tanks, because there's no going back. My name is Lisa Ann Merrell Wagenman, and I'm old.

How crazy!? I have never heard of that. I guess I won't be able to hear it either. How is it that the older you are...you can't hear it!? It is so true about the age thing. I remember when I was younger I thought 25 was sooo old. Now we are almost 30! Who would have thought that 28 feels so young!?
How funny! I hadn't heard of that ring. I definitely wouldn't be able to hear it. That is hilarious! And don't worry, you are still young compared to me.
Hi Joel and Lisa! I just found your blog! Way cute!! Now I can see what's goin' on with the Wagenmans! I found your blog from Anney Malone who is my sister's sister-in-law (?) Take care!
Um your funny cause your younger than me...at least you can always say that. (However, I can still hear the ring..haha..sorry) Untill of course I decide that I am going backwards then you'll have to find another way to soothe your aching for the younger years. It is a little wierd though when the grocery store boys call you maam.
Don't feel bad. I can't even hear the NORMAL ring of a cell phone, or Natalie's voice from across the room, or even sitting right next to me for that matter.

You crack me up! I've definately got ya' beat on the whole "old" thing. Try 31...in like 2 weeks! I have never heard of the high pitched cell phone ring...who knows what they'll come up with next! Kids!
That is just plain crazy! You are not old, but maybe just a little :)
I haven't heard of that ringtone. But that is to funny. You aren't old. I think it is a state of mind. Because I feel at least 20 in my mind.
It's true about Jake's ears. I actually made him go to the doctor, cause I swore he was going deaf. The Dr. told him that every wife thinks their husband is going deaf and that he is fine. Thanks Doc! Can I have my co-pay back now? Anyway about getting old...way to accept it. I have decided to buy some housecoats and start living the dream too!

So, this week at work, I had a similar experience. A girl told me she liked my earrings. I said thanks and told her they were from Express. She replied, "Oh, my mom likes that store." Thanks.
I just found your blog! We miss having your family next door. The girls have grown so much!
Check out our blog: thoughtsnspots.blogspot.com

I was thinking the same thing Bethany! Where'd you go Lisa? We need updates on you and your cute family!
okay, I just got started on this blog thing. Finding ways to try and stay hip, HA! HA! How are you doing girl. I see you haven't posted in awhile. Is the new addition here yet? Take care!
Holy smokes, you are brave to leave your full legal name out on a public web site without being forced to because it is linked to a political donation or something! But seriously,...
I know how you feel. I first found out about that by watching TV shows...I was going to test it out with my 10-year-old, but never got around to it whilst she was visiting this summer. However, there is a really good web site on that at:
http://www.teenbuzz.org/index.html
It shows some that 40- and 60-year-olds can't hear as well, so you won't feel quite so old because (hopefully) you'll still be able to hear those.
