S.O.S.

Think she looks so sweet and innocent? Don't be fooled. This little master of disaster is turning into a serious climber! I feel like we've entered into a whole new phase of parenting. Not that we ever really had things totally under control (don't tell the kids!) but now I feel like I spend my days just chasing after Shae in a flustered, defeated panic. Here are just a few of the places I've found her on top of lately:
from the floor, to the couch, up to the ledge
from the piano chair, to the piano keys, up to the top of the piano
from the kitchen chairs, to the table, up to the chandelier... makes a great swing!
We now have to keep all chairs OUTSIDE and then move one in every time we want to sit down.
from the bottom drawer, to the door handle, then she grabs the burners and hoists herself up on top. Yesterday the door opened on her and she came crashing down. The oven was on. Bruised but not burned. Hope CPS doesn't blog surf.
from the toilet, up to the vanity sink for a nice foot soak
from the dishwasher, to the counter, up to the breakfast bar
Yikes! Can't leave these windows by the changing table (on the 2nd floor) open any more! And yes, the big girls' beds always look this messy even before Shae gets to the top.
unsupervised in the back seat.
Whatever happened to these calm days? How did they disappear so fast?
.....I guess those days were crazy too, just in a less life-threatening way.
(p.s.- no I didn't clean my house just for these pictures. Joel took most of these pictures one time long ago when the house was clean - he wanted to capture the rare moment. It never looks this clean!)

The house was very nice! And I have been over several times and it is always that clean! :) I had a sis we called hodeeni (sp) cause she got out of any carseat - even when we ducktaped it up really high. And we have had climbers - not my kids but in the family (sis aunts.) my granny would always talk of the time she found her little one on top of the fridge! still unsure of how she did that one. SHe said it was the end of her napping days! Shae cracks me up. Ummm I will no longer be offering to watch her. :)
Sorry you have a climber. I was a climber too. Was less than a year when my mom found me on top of the fridge, After a couple of bad accidents I stopped and have no desire to be a rock climber now.
Lisa I have the greatest solution to the climbing problem! You should look on Craig's List for some kind of Little Tyke's jungle gym climby thing for Shae to play on. You could move it outside instead of the chairs and she could enjoy herself without life threatening consequences! What a little monkey! What a beauty!
That little tooster! I can't believe she swings from the chandelier! It's sometimes hard to get upset when you see how brilliant Shae is. That little mind is just working to see how she can get from point A to point B. Luckily Tyler's to chubby to climb on anything higher than the couch :)... for now anyways. Good luck sistah!
And here I thought only boys did that! When Taylor was little I walked in on him trying to get the candy jar that I kept on top of the fridge.
That is so much fun for you! She is so cute! Her eyes are gorgeous!
Wow, her eyes are SO Blue! I can't believe she is big enough to climb all those things, last time we were in AZ she was a newborn, sigh... So, I am assuming she is probably not in a crib anymore then? I've had nightmares about our kids falling from the pony wall above the stairway. Even though we made it clear to them when we moved in that they cannot go on it (they never have)I really want to build it into a full wall. When Jacob was 2 he would try to open an upstairs window, so I got a grapefruit and showed him and WesLee what happened when it fell out the window. He said he didn't want to break like the grapefruit. They have never forgot that.
